Effect of Trypanosoma spp. on Nutritional status and performance of livestock

چکیده
Trypanosoma species occur in vertebrates, principally in their blood and tissue fluids as intercellular. A few may invade the tissue fluids as intracellular parasites like Trypanosoma cruzi found within the cells of reticuloendothelial system and in the cardiac muscles. Trypanosomiasis in livestock has a profound influence on productivity (FAO, 2000). Seasonal occurrence of trypanosomiasis, mostly in the dry season (Mochabo et al., 2005) and in hot humid climate in tsetse infested areas (Dam et al., 1996). The severity of trypanosomiasis depends on the pathogenicity of the Trypanosoma spp. and susceptibility and nutritional status of the host. Susceptibility increases to trypanosomiasis depends on malnutrition, overwork, intercurrent infection, pregnancy, parturition lactation, stress and degree of parasitaemia. (katunguka et. al., 1995). Species of the genus are the etiological agents of important diseases of animals and man such as Surra, Nagana, Dourine, Mal-decadres in animals and sleeping sickness of man etc. They are transmitted by blood sucking arthropods in which the developmental stages like epimastigote or promastigote occur. A few species are transmitted mechanically without any development in the arthopod vector. Effect on Feed Intake

African animal trypanosomiasis as a constraint to livestock health and production in Karamoja region: a detailed qualitative and quantitative assessment
BACKGROUND Nagana (African Animal Trypanosomiasis-AAT) and tick-borne diseases (TBDs) constrain livestock production in most parts of sub-Saharan Africa. To this realisation, Uganda government set up an African trypanosomiasis (AT) control unit, which among other activities generates national tsetse control priority maps using apparent tsetse density data. Such maps underestimate mechanically t...
متن کاملThe Effect of Oral Nutritional Supplement on Nutritional Status of Hemodialysis Patients in a Military Hospital
Background and Aim: Malnutrition is a common problem for hemodialysis patients, leading to reduced quality of life, increased hospitalization, and increased mortality. Evaluation of nutritional status is one of the main determinants of the clinical status. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of oral nutritional supplements (Iso Whey) on the nutritional status of hemodialysis pat...
متن کاملA Comparative Effect of Child-to-Child and Health Educator to-Child Teaching Approaches on Nutritional Status in Elementary School Students
Introduction: Nutritional problems are one of the most important health issues among school-aged children, and modification of the nutritional status in children is as well important. Objective: Present study aims to determine the effectiveness of child to child teaching approach as compared to educator to child teaching approach on promotion of nutritional status of elementary school students...
متن کاملEffects of zinc oxide nanoparticles on antioxidant status, serum enzymes activities, biochemical parameters and performance in broiler chickens
This research was conducted to investigate the effect of zinc oxide Nanoparticles (nano-ZnO) in diets on the performance, antioxidant status, enzymes activity and some hematological parameters of broiler chickens. A total of 600 one–day-old male Ross 308 broilers were allocated to four treatment groups with five replications of 30 each from day 1 to 42 day of age. The birds were continuously di...

The effect of Aspergillus xylanase (ASXYL) supplementation to maize-soybean diets on serum aspartate aminotransferase, serum alanine aminotransferase, microbial examination, growth traits, carcass characteristics and meat quality traits of broiler chickens was investigated. Three hundred one-day-old mixed sex “Cobb 500” broiler chicks were allotted to 5 dietary treatments with 5 replic...
